As the Shakespeare for Social Justice Director for Marin Shakespeare Company, I have been working in jails, prisons and juvenile hall since 2003. Through the years, we have learned that conscious use of the theater and other art forms can provide a doorway into healing, growth and profound inner transformation for individuals from backgrounds of trauma, abuse, poverty and violence.
