As a psychotherapist and as an Expressive Arts and Drama Therapist, I help people connect to their authentic selves, and to love themselves as fully as possible as they listen to the wisdom of their bodies, minds and hearts. Originally trained in a 3 year Master’s Program in Expressive Arts Therapy at CIIS, I believe that when we connect to our authentic selves, we tap into to a river of boundless creativity, which serves as a source of healing, wisdom and guidance for our lives.  Since completing my master’s degree at CIIS in 1999, I have been using psychotherapy, somatic practices, and the arts with adults, children, teens and youth with special needs both in my private practice and in other settings. With an extensive background practicing and teaching yoga, my work is deeply rooted in the belief that emotional trauma, fixations and unhealthy energetic patterns are often stored in the body, and I love helping clients who are experiencing ongoing physical distress, such as chronic headaches, muscle pains, insomnia, and more,  explore and release the psycho-spiritual root of their symptoms.  While my approach to therapy is eclectic and may combine tools from humanistic psychology, cognitive-behavioral therapy, somatic psychotherapy and transpersonal psychotherapy depending on the needs of the client, at the heart of my work is the belief that loving ALL of ourselves is a key component in the healing process.  When appropriate, Expressive Arts and Drama Therapy tools are also integrated into my work with private clients, and I have seen again and again how an embodied, action-oriented approach within a safe, compassionate container offers clients the possibility of directly and powerfully tapping into resources, strengths, guidance and well-being.  When the creative process is awakened within each of us, many of the day-to-day problems and struggles that we face can be transformed, and we can live from a place of thriving rather than simply surviving.
